Game review Downloads Screenshots Mecha Fights If you are a fan of giant robots fighting each other, then this is the game for you. Combat System The game has turn-based combat, which makes it important to strategize as much as possible.
Overall rating: 8. This changes in Moon Dwellers as more characters are added along a new faction with in the Fury, the Spies. Time stopping ability. The protagonist main mecha can move during this freezing moment. This changes in Moon Dwellers the Fury don't use it often as it is limited and the Larseilam Canceler that the protagonist had in J is taken away in Moon Dwellers and while Granteed has Larseilam of its own it is damaged by Kalo-Ran while E-Selda was taking Granteed, the Bellzelute isn't equipped with Larseilam as it is Earth made.
Main Mecha In SRW J the player was allowed to choose the main mecha and the origin of the main mecha is the same they are the prototype machine of the Raftclans , but in Moon Dwellers the mecha is already chosen and its origin differs with each mecha. Bellzelute is a human made base on Fury technology piloted by Calvina Coulange.
Coustwell does make an appearance but only in its upgraded form Coustwell Brachium, whose origin is that of a bodyguard to Grandeed piloted by Jua-Mu. The Vorlent the secret mecha from J is not playable rather the Raftclans is playable with Al-Van joining the main cast.
Sub Pilots for Main Mecha. Their beginning is different. The girls were stationed at Ashuari Kreuzel Industries with their parents. I enjoyed these sequences and sincerely hope that Banpresto continues to expand on this, especially the in-cockpit view conversation that was sadly only tied to the beginning cutscene.
Though many of the attack animations are carried over from its prequel for older units, a few new attacks have once again show off the stellar work in these insane, meticulously crafted segments. Of course, all of the new characters and their mecha have their own set of all-new unique animations too. There're also exclusive story interactions with the co-pilots based on how much they're deployed for combat with one of the main pilots.
Battles in Moon Dwellers are grid-based that take place in a variety of terrain on Earth and in space. Players are able to take actions on all their units first before the enemy can; different tile spaces can grant advantageous bonuses, such as forest tiles giving out higher evasion rates.
Mechs can group up and provide assists from within the same team and to adjacent teams. These SR Points automatically determine the difficulty based on the total percentage of how much a player has earned. There were a few times in Moon Dwellers in which units on the battlefield were especially hard to see.
A few busy city backgrounds made it very hard to locate specific units due to their color schemes blending into them. Plus, the game already suffers from lackluster enemy variety, so seeing the same enemies do the same things was a bit of a downer. Clashing art design is quickly becoming an aging problem that plagues the OG series as well. Characters from the first OG installment still have their upscaled PS2 portraits which paints a nasty contrast to the much cleaner, more refined and detailed look of the brand-new and more recent characters.
